If something bad happened to the original 64xxx gun, like it blew up, it might have been sent back to the factory, and they replaced it with a new gun, but gave it the old serial number. There is some dispute regarding the dates on some serial numbers and your gun may actually be a year off from what is listed. I assume the hammer and trigger on yours are case-hardened and the ejector is blued. If so, you have a nickel revolver from the factory.
