Hello fellow DIYers. My parents have an old Kenmore 700 series dryer bought used last year and now we can’t run it with the “check lint screen” light on. I’ve cleaned the filter area and vent hose. I took the back panel off to see if the foam seal around the vent needed to be replaced but there is no foam seal there. Do I add a foam seal?1-5 years. AF code (air flow) occasionally comes on. Cloths will not dry But dryer runs. The lint screen is clean & good condition vent tube has no kinks & chimney is clean. at times dryer will run with “Good Air Flow” light on and finish drying laundry. Next time the AF code is on and not drying cloths.So there are only a few things that will make the lint light go on. One being the lint screen, seeing that you do clean that we can eliminate that being the problem. 2other issues can be that the lint screen would need to be replaced, seeing that its an old dryer sometimes over the years the lint screens get a build up in the even though you clean it.Most Maytag dryers display a specific light or text telling you to ‘check lint screen.’ This light is meant to turn off automatically once you start a cycle or open a door.
